Sara Bonati

With a PhD in Human and Physical Geography at the University of Padova, she earned a first master’s degree in International Relations and Safeguarding of Human Rights (University of Turin) followed by a second in Geography and Territorial Processes (University of Bologna).

Between 2012-2014 she worked as a visiting researcher at the CEG (Centre for Geographical Studies) at the University of Lisbon. Since 2014 she has been an associate researcher for the CIERL (Research Centre for Regional and Local Studies) at the University of Madeira. She is also a member of the editorial board of the Translocal journal (first issue expected for 2017) promoted by the centre and for the Rivista Geografica Italiana (Società di Studi Geografici).

Her research interests include climate change governance, disaster risk reduction, vulnerable and resilient landscapes, island studies, urban political ecology and environmental-social justice.

She has been contributing to LaGeS research activities since 2017.
