He has been concerned with urban planning for some time, as a theorist, university lecturer, professional planner, legal consultant and public official.
He has held urban planning courses at the University of Florence faculties of Architecture and Engineering.
He directed the urban planning offices in Treviso (1979-1982), Sesto Fiorentino (1983-86) and Florence (2000-2008).
He has been urban planning advisor for projects put together by numerous institutes and organizations, amongst which UNESCO, LaGeS, Fondiaria, Solvay and Punta Ala Promozione e Sviluppo Immobiliare.
His academic and professional activities have been accompanied by intense public affairs activities, including some original proposals for solving city formation and transformation issues.
