Mirella Loda is full professor of Geography at the University of Florence<\/a><\/p>\n She studied at the Technical University of Munich, where she earned her PhD. She taught at the universities of Munich and Oldenburg (Germany) and at Standford University (in Florence).<\/p>\n At the University of Florence she is responsible for development cooperation. She is director of the Laboratory of Social Geography<\/a>, that she founded in 2005<\/p>\n She has coordinated several successful cooperation projects in Afghanistan and Myanmar realized in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation. \nShe is a member of the Expert Working Group for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Landscape and Archeological Remains of the Bamiyan Valley World Heritage Property.
\nHer research interests and activities are concerned with social and economic change in contemporary urban spaces, with a special focus on management and fruition of urban public space, transformation of commercial activities, tourism development and cultural heritage, local food policies.
\nShe is currently leading research projects on these topics on behalf of the Municipality of Florence and the Tuscan Regional Authority.
\nShe is the author of several books and around 70 articles.<\/p>\n
